Dewi Sukarno is a complex character with legendary history. Her stories are recorded on the internet, newspapers and books. Those who are interested can read about her. This is not the place to discuss. She was the fourth wife of President Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia. Before, 2021-8-13, not many Chinese people know about Dewi or about her political stance. In 2019, she was at least once considered as China-Japan friendly ambassador. During the days between 8-13 and 8-15, the Baidupedia (China’s version of Wikipedia) of Dewi was changed multiple times. Zhang Zhehan does not understand Japanese well (video below) and cannot engage in a “pleasant conversation” with Dewi. On the picture, both put on a polite stance. After the wedding, Dewi complained on her blog that Zhang Zhehan was rude in wearing jeans to a formal wedding. Dewi acknowledged him in her blog as: handsome Chinese actor. Regardless of what her political stance is, Dewi is almost eighty years old. When you are at a wedding, when you have no knowledge of this person or her political background, stood in a picture with an elderly out of respect, should that deserve to be condemned in hell?

乃木神社供奉乃木希典，乃木静子夫妇。乃木希典是一位陆军上将，有些说法是他曾经参加过旅顺大屠杀。但这个在历史学界也有争议。在8月12日以前，除了历史学家，中国群众对乃木神社的历史背景了解甚少。乃木神社的百度词条在8月12日晚11点建成，目的可想而知。由于中国人对乃木神社的了解甚少，2020年人民网日本频道曾经报道关于乃木坂46成员在乃木神社正装举行成人礼。没有批评没有谴责更没有封杀。 乃木夫妇一生恩爱，同生共死。所以乃木神社在日本东京是一个举办婚礼仪式的热门场所，对外宣传也是也是纪念爱情，愿有情人终成眷属。（乃木神社官网）。中国人对乃木神社的认识紧限于那是一个宣扬夫妻恩爱举办婚礼的地方。张哲瀚接受朋友邀请，在不了解乃木神社的历史背景的情况下，在神社前园的公共道路上围观了日本传统婚礼仪式，然后去参加婚宴。婚宴在离乃木神社10分钟步程的城市俱乐部举行。
Nogi Shrine was built for Maresuke Nogi and his wife Nogi Shizuko. Maresuke Nogi was a Japanese Commander who was thought to be one of the participants in Port Arthur Massacre. However, this is up to debate among historians. Before Aug 12, 2021, other than historians, not many Chinese people knew the historical background of Nogi Shrine. Baidu page for Nogi Shrine was published at 11pm Aug 12 for obvious reasons. Due to Chinese people’s lack of knowledge of Nogi Shrine, in 2020, People Network Japan has posted news regarding Japanese band Nogizaka 46 holding coming of age ceremony at Nogi Shinre. The post contains no criticism, no shame and obviously Nogizaka46 is not boycotted in China. Maresuke Nogi and his wife had a loving marriage and passed away on the same day. Therefore, Nogi Shrine is a popular Japanese wedding ceremony venue in Tokyo. The image Shrine mostly portrays is a place for conmemorate love and marriage, wishing couples a lifetime of happiness. (Nogi Shrine) Chinese people’s knowledge of Nogi Shrine is limited to it’s a popular wedding venue. Zhang Zhehan accepted his friend’s wedding invitation. When he had no knowledge of the historical and political background of the wedding venue, he came to observe the traditional Japanese wedding ceremony outside the Shrine on the public pathway, then went on to the reception. The reception was held at City Club that is a 10 minute walk from the Nogi Shrine.

勿用质疑，对张哲瀚最有杀伤力的就是在靖国神社区域内找的几章樱花图。靖国神社对于中国人来讲是个极度敏感的地方。在这里不会讨论它的历史背景和存在的意义。不用说，作为中国人，或者华裔，都绝对不应该参拜靖国神社。 大家都明白这个道理，如果张哲瀚真的去参拜，还会有这么多人，这么多中国人等他为他做澄清吗？ 关于张哲瀚的樱花9宫图，没有一章有正殿，没有一章是他在参拜，那只能得出一个结论，没有证据证明他去参拜。所以再说他参拜就是需要付法律责任的污蔑。 网传，还有很多官方媒体也报道 (共青团中央最为过分），说张哲瀚是从正门进入，已经走的十分靠里。走那么远，肯定知道那是靖国神社，而且就是去参拜的。这里可以复盘一下张哲瀚赏樱花的路线。
There is no question that the cherry blossom pictures within the proximity of Yasukuni Shrine is the main dart that destroyed Zhang Zhehan’s name and career. Yasukuni Shrine is an extremely sore spot for Chinese people. This is not the place to discuss its historical background or legitimacy. As a Chinese, or a Chinese decedent, one should not worship in Yasukuni Shrine. Every Chinese understands this. If Zhang Zhehan really went to worship Yasukuni Shrine， would so many Chinese people still working hard trying to clear his name? If you look at the 9 pictures he took within Yasukuni Shrine proximity, neither of them include the sanctuary for worshiping, neither of them shows he is worshipping. There is only one conclusion, absolutely no evidence that he ever worshipped Yasukuni Shrine. Therefore, if anyone continue to say he went to worship Yasukuni Shrine, that is public slandering punishable by law. A rumor propagating on internet, and helped by state sponsored news agencies (such as Central Communist Youth League), states he entered from front door, walked deep inside. If you are going to go that are, you must have realized it’s Yasukuni Shrine, therefore you must be on your way to worship. We can try to replicate the route Zhang Zhehan went during the cherry blossom viewing trip.

3D aerial photo from Google show that there is absolutely no Sakura inside the Yasukuni Shrine Sanctuary. Therefore, if Sakura trees are seen on the photographs, they must be taken outside the Yasukuni Shrine sanctuary.
复盘之后发现，张哲瀚经过的路线并没有路过参拜区。他的微博发表时间是下午5点半， 有地理达人根据照片里的日光推测大约是5点10分，他最多再靖国神社的范围内走了了15-20分钟。要是真的想去参观，会只待20分钟吗？ 还有一个细节，游就馆下午4点半关门 （靖国神社官网），所以他连游就馆都没有参观。还有中国官媒《环球时报》曾经报道过，中国人和韩国人是不可以参拜靖国神社的 （报道）。离靖国神社不远处是北之丸公园和千代区立九段坂公园。 靖国神社南门入口 （张哲瀚走进的路口），离千代区立九段坂只有50米。中间是一个有硬质铺装和名人雕像的沿街广场，春天时一条街都会开满樱花。很明显，他路过靖国神社的区域只是为了赏樱。 既然没有可能参拜，甚至算不上参观，那下面的问题就是：1. 中国人是不是可以去东京赏樱？ 2. 中国人是不是可以去靖国神社区域内赏樱？ 最起码直到2021年8月13日，官方的答案是：可以。 2014年四月，人民网日本频道发过赏樱功率里提到靖国神社也是东京赏樱景点之一。有意思的是，在张哲瀚事件发生以后，人民网偷偷的去把那篇文章修改了。除了人民网，许多别的官媒也是鼓励大家去靖国神社赏樱，包括东方卫视，凤凰网，CCTV2, CCTV4 等。 他们发的观景点都在靖国神社范围内。底下有图片。
After Zhang Zhehan’s route through the proximity of Yasukuni Shrine is replicated, it is obvious that that he did not go near the area reserved for worship. His Weibo was posted aroung 5:30pm. According to some geography guru, based on the sunlight and shadows in that group of pictures, the time is probably close to 5:10pm. Therefore, he was only in the proximity of Yasukuni Shrine for about 15-20 minutes. If someone was really interested in visiting a shrine, would he only stay for 20minutes? Another detail is the Yushukan Museum closes at 4:30pm (Yasukuni Jinja). Thus, Zhang Zhehan can’t even go visit the museum. Also, according to Chinese state media agency Global Times, Chinese and Koreans are not allowed to worship the sanctuary. Close to Yasukuni Shrine is Kitanomaru and Kudanzaka, both popular cherry blossom viewing parks. Between Kudazaka and south gate of Yasukuni Shrine is only 50 meters, where the whole street is walkable with cherry blossom trees in full swing during the spring time. It is apparent the purpose of Zhang Zhehan’s trip is to view cherry blossoms. He didn’t go worship in Yasukuni Shrine, he barely even visited. Now the question is: 1. Are Chinese people allowed to view Cherry Blossom in Tokyo? 2. Are Chinese people allowed to view Cherry Blossom within the proximity of Yasukuni Shrine? At least before 2021-8-13, the answer to both questions are “yes”. In April 2014, People’s Network Japan posted a list of suggested cherry blossom view spots in Tokyo which includes Yasukuni Shrine. Interestingly, they went back to delete it after the Zhang Zhehan event happened. Other than People’s Network， multiple state sponsored agencies have suggested the vicinities of Yasukuni Shrine as great viewing spots for cherry blossoms. Pictures are below.

其实，就算是参观靖国神社，在2021年8月13日以前，官方也是允许的，甚至鼓励的。2002 年， 姜文为拍摄电影去过靖国神社，曾被部分群众批评。但央视名主持人白岩松，崔永元，《人民中国》杂志的副社长王众一，作家阿城，史铁生， 原总政文化部部长徐怀中纷纷为姜文辩论，说中国人去靖国神社没问题。 2013年，央视名主持人白岩松在节目《新闻1+1》介绍自己两度参观靖国神社的经历。2017年，《环球时报》发表文章”每个中国人都该去一次靖国神社。。。所以说，在2021年8月13日以前，官方建议大众去靖国赏樱花，甚至鼓励大家去靖国神社参观。2018年张哲瀚去日本赏樱时走入靖国神社范围内， 2021年8月因此被批斗，封杀，社死，迫害， 这是什么道理了？

In 2002, Jiang Wen visited Yasukuni Shrine to shoot movie, which drawn criticism from the public. However, CCTV new anchors Bai Yansong, Cui Yongyuan, associate editor of People’s China magazine Wang Zhongyi, authors Ah Cheng, Shi Tiesheng, and formal minister of culture Xu Huaizhong all supported Jiang Wen in his visit to Yasunkuni Shrine. In 2013, CCTV news anchor Bai Yansong talked about his own experience in visiting Yasukuni Shrine (twice) in his show News 1+1. In 2017, Global Times published an article titled “Every Chinese Should Go to Yasukuni Shrine...”. Therefore, before 2021-8-13, the government suggest the public to got to stop by Yasukuni Shrine for Cherry Blossoms, even suggest people to visit Yasukuni Shrine to learn about history. In 2018, Zhang Zhehan pass by the proximity of Yasukuni Shrine to view Cherry Blossom. 2021-8-13, because of those pictures he took he was condemned, boycotted, cancelled, and persecuted. How does that ever make sense?

On 2018-10-1, Zhang Zhehan posted on Weibo about coming back to motherland on China’s birthday, he posted some pictures he took in Japan. This was criticized by the public “what was he thinking’, he is calling Japan his nation. However, that same afternoon, fans meet with Zhang Zhehan in the airport. Weather was horrible for flying that day, but he still made it to China. His Weibo post means, on China’s birthday, no matter how bad the weather is, he will still go back to his motherland.

The original post was on July 17th, 2017, not July 7th (one memorial day for the Sino-Japan war). It is a picture in a 9 picture emsemble that Zhang Zhehan randomly took on streets of Japan while he was traveling. He didn’t realize the sensitivity of that picture. But when people reminded him, he deleted it immediately. As for the chat history he had with fans, which was used as evidence for claiming he was being sarcastic about he car picture, was not on the same date the car picture was posted. The chat was regarding cyber bullying and was taken out of context.

One picture shows that Zhang Zhehan is raising his hand in front of an architecture, this was maliciously interpreted as ‘he is doing Nazi gesture in front of war memorial’. The picture was posted part of a 9 picture assemble by Zhang Zhehan on December 15th, 2019. That was the time when variety show Actors Please Take Your Place was in the finals session which Zhang Zhehan was participating in. He took part of a skit with Wang Seng called Brother which was in the finals. That gesture was the classic gesture from the skit. Wang Seng replied on his post. Also, the architecture that appears in the picture is not a war memorial. It’s Zhejiang Global Center (a convention center in Hang Zhou).

Zhang Zhehan shared a booklist with fans previously which included 2 books by Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore and Killing Commandatore. Someone created a rumor that both books talk about the background of Yasukuni Shrine. Therefore, since Zhang Zhehan read those 2 books, he must knew the background about Yasukuni Shrine, so he went to visit on purpose. What he said about ignorance was a lie. However, after confirming by multiple people, it was proven that neither book mentions Yasukuni Shrine. Below is the result of searching for Yasukuni Shrine in those 2 books. News Publishing House posted weibo using those 2 books to criticize Zhang Zhehan back in August, 2021, but they quickly deleted their post when they realized they had been fooled by the rumors. Also, the Chinese edition of Killing Commandatore was released on March 10, 2018, 2 weeks before Zhang Zhehan took those cherry blossom pictures (link).
